Wanderers in bonanza opener
By Mphatso Malidadi:
Nyasa Big Bullets date Ferroviaro de Nampula of Mozambique whereas Be Forward Wanderers meet Zimbabwe’s Chicken Inn on Friday to kick-start the three-day bonanza at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
Bullets have organised the bonanza.
Hosts Bullets have come up with the fixtures which indicate that, in the assignments, Wanderers face Nampula whereas Bullets test Chicken Inn on Saturday.
The bonanza winds up on Monday with a meeting between Chicken Inn and Ferroviaro whereas Bullets entertain Wanderers. Bullets Chief Executive Officer, Fleetwood Haiya, hopes they would break even from the bonanza after pumping in K50 million.
“It is our wish to partner the corporate sector across our value chain. There are much benefits that corporates will benefit by riding and leveraging on NBB FC brand which is successful and People’s Team brand,” he said.

Haiya said Bullets want to use the tournament to assess their strength before the 2019 TNM Super League season kick-off in April.
Chicken Inn are expected to arrive today with a 27-member strong squad comprising eight new players such as Bret Amidu, Donovan Bernard, Tinashe Chipunza, Clive Augusto, Malvin Gaki, Phakamani Dube and Valentine Kadonzvo.
Chicken Inn spokesperson, Tawenga Hara, told Zimbabwe media that they want to use the tour of Malawi to strengthen their squad harmony.
“We are travelling with a squad of 27 players. We should be leaving on Tuesday and returning on March 5 in time for the ZNA Charity Shield match against Highlanders set for March 10.
“Remember we have got a number of players who have joined us and this is the chance for them to know about the team’s culture as well as bond with their new team-mates,” Hara is quoted as saying on www.nehandradio.com.
Football scout James Pondamale, who facilitates the transfer of Malawian players to Mozambican clubs, yesterday rated Nampula highly, saying “they always fight for the title”.
