Wanderers players still unpaid
There is no end in sight for Mighty Wanderers players’ woes as the club is still failing to pay their December and January salaries.
Wanderers are deep in financial crisis after Japanese second-hand motor vehicle dealer Be Forward Limited severed ties with them late last year due to a hostile business environment because of the Covid pandemic.
Wanderers General Secretary Victor Maunde said the club continues to explore all avenues for solutions.
Maunde said, so far, they have managed to pay half of their players’ upkeep arrears.
“We are doing whatever we can to sort out the challenges that our players are facing. It remains an open secret that we have not paid our players up to now.
“We sourced some money and used it for paying their upkeep. We continue to do everything possible to secure funds so that we pay whatever we owe our players,” Maunde said.
The Nomads’ failure to pay their players resulted into the departure of their Ghanaian defender Eric Atsigah who terminated his contract a fortnight ago.
Meanwhile, Wanderers have returned to training ahead of the expected TNM Super league resumption this month-end.
The Nomads’ left back Mike Kaziputa said their focus is on working hard in training as their officials continue to look for solutions to their problems.
“We are just training hard in readiness for the league’s resumption. We don’t know when we shall receive our salaries. All we can do is wait.
“We remain hopeful that our officials will pay us. Life is not normal for us and playing football without receiving anything is not on,” Kaziputa said.
Wanderers are on 12th position in the league, with seven points from seven matches.
