BE Forward Wanderers Supporters Committee has promoted executive member Peter Mvalo to the post of treasurer.
Wanderers Supporters Committee General Secretary Samuel Mponda confirmed the appointment saying it was done in accordance with the constitution as Treasurer Rahim Ratif and his vice Kennedy Khemosi were inactive.
“As supporters we are working hard to help the team during this difficult times. Covid-19 pandemic has affected every sector of life including sports. The two are now inactive and this affects our plans and operations,” he said.
Mponda said Mvalo was among most active members as the supporters conduct a number of fundraising activities to help Wanderers players amid the pandemic.
“Mponda said the supporters wanted a vibrant committee in its quest to fundraise for the team monthly.
“We want our members to be contributing K100 monthly. If we get one million supporters contributing this amount monthly it means we can get K100 million each month,” he said.
Ratif and Khemosi could not be reached for a comment.
Mvalo said he would be transparent and accountable.
“I know through that way I will earn the trust of my fellow Wanderers supporters. If every penny is accounted for other supporters will begin to believe in us and we will change things,” he said.
Recently, the supporters donated K50,000 and groceries each to midfielders Felix Zulu and Francis Mkonda.
