Warrant of arrest for President Joyce Banda

Police have obtained a warrant of arrest for former President Joyce Banda for her alleged involvement in ‘cashgate’ cases.

In a statement dated 31 July, Police Spokesperson James Kadadzera says police have gathered evidence that raises reasonable suspicion that the former President committed offences relating to abuse of office and money laundering.

Police say the warrant is in response to the interest of Malawians on cashgate cases and inquiries on what the police was doing about it.
