Water boards train 74 in water management
Seventy-four staff drawn from all the five water boards in the country have been equipped in water plant operations.
The training which took place at Namwera in Mangochi was facilitated by the Technical Entrepreneurial Vocational Education Training Authority (Teveta.)
Chief Director of Water Development in the Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Water Development Sandramu Maweru told the participants to use their skills and knowledge to the benefit of the country.
“Take the opportunity that you are working in the water industry to serve the people with your skills. Use your skills for the benefit of the country. Do not use the skills to sabotage the industry,” said Maweru.
And Water Board Regional Service Centre Manager for the North Conceptor Kachoka bemoaned the low number of people receiving training on water management in the water boards.
Water Services Association of Malawi president Titus Mtegha pledged to government that water boards will continue investing in their staff. Mtegha who is also Northern Region Water Board Chief Executive Officer said his board is alreadysponsoring two female employees in post graduate studies in water management.
