We do not fear Comoros—RVG
Malawi national football team Coach, Ronny van Geneudgen (RVG), has said his charges are not intimidated by Comoros Islands’ home record in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Comoros, who host Malawi on Saturday, anchor Group B with two points from four games, having held leaders Cameroon 1-1 and second-placed Morocco 2-2, who have eight and seven points from four games each, respectively.
However, speaking before departure for Comoros at Chileka Airport in Blantyre yesterday, RVG said the Flames were optimistic of winning the match.
“This is a different match. We just have to maintain the same level and spirit which we had in the previous game [0-0 draw against Cameroon last month]. They might be good at home but our players are full of patriotism and geared to do well,” he said.
The Flames are without suspended Gabadinho Mhango and Christopher ‘CJ’ Banda but RVG is optimistic that he has adequate replacements.
“We have good players who are capable of delivering positive results,” said RVG whose charges lie third with four points from four matches.
