We had successful shows—Charles Sinetre
Lusubilo Band from Karonga and Ulimba from Nsanje performanced with Germany group Andromeda Mega Express in a project known as What Boundaries?
The What Boundaries? project saw Andromeda Mega Express coming to Malawi where it held a workshop with Lusubilo and Ulimba before working together and later held performances in Karonga, Mzuzu, Lilongwe and Blantyre.
After the Malawi shows, Lusubilo and Ulimba joined Andromeda in Germany where they held performances and are expected back tomorrow.
Coordinator of the project, Charles Sinetre, who travelled with the two groups said yesterday that Lusubilo and Ulimba stunned people with their performances.
“It has been a successful tour, the two groups earned praise during performances and they sold Malawi,” Sinetre said.
He said the last show was at Radial System Hall in Berlin.
Sinetre also said the trip excited members of Ulimba Band, who flew for the first time and also performed in Germany for the first time.
“They performed to a different audience and we hope this will motivate them to do more in their music,” he said.
Andromeda saxophonist and main composer Daniel Glatzel said during their visit in the country that the aim of What Boundaries? is to blend and combine Malawi’s traditional music with international jazz, current electronic music as well as elements of contemporary European music.
