Impakt Events, led by musician Lucius Banda, who are the organisers of the Sand Music Festival, have indicated that they will be unveiling the international acts on September 1.

Lucius, popularly known as Soldier, said yesterday that they were aware that time was running out but assured people that they will have good artists.

The festival is set to take place at Sunbird Livingstonia in Salima from October 27 to October 29.

“As the organisers of this festival, we are ready for this year. There is so much happening on the ground, only that we wanted to finalise everything before coming out,” Lucius said.

Festivals in the country have had challenges in announcing artists in time.

But Lucius maintained that they did not want to rush as they wanted to put everything in black and white.

Last year, the festival was headlined by Tanzanian artist Diamond and, this year, Lucius said people should watch the space.

“We do not want to break the news now but people should wait for September 1. We have a surprise for them,” he said.

With Lake of Stars Festival not taking place this year, people will be looking forward to this festival alongside Blantyre Arts Festival in early October and the Sound and Light concert at Sunbird Livingstonia in Salima in September.

Meanwhile, Wendy Harawa, who is part of the Impakt Events Management team, has been attending different platforms outside the country to link up with different acts but also learn a few tricks on organisation.

“There are some tricks I have learned in some of the events I have attended and we hope to implement some of them during the festival. We have also linked up with some of the artists and so there is more this year as usual,” Harawa said.
