Wedding Expo lives up to billing

Sunbird Hotels and Resort on Saturday presented people with a classy wedding expo at Sunbird Mount Soche in Blantyre.
The expo came barely two weeks after the country’s hospitality service provider also fruitfully held its first expo in Lilongwe.
The expo provided entertainment and also offered people a chance to connect with some of the people who are in the business of wedding services.
Sunbird Head of Sales, Marketing and Distribution Temwa Kanjadza said the expo will be an annual event and that their aim is to provide a platform for couples who are planning to get married to interact with the wedding service providers.
Kanjadza added that this is a stage that has also accorded them an opportunity to showcase their wedding packages and specials their hotels and resorts offer.
“As a leading hospitality service provider, we believe it is key to provide such platforms for all our wedding and events service providers, and bring together buyers with exhibitors in order to ensure a thriving industry, which has a significant impact on hospitality services such as weddings and events,” Kanjadza said.
Blantyre-based Damian Mauambeta, who plans to wed this year, described the expo as an amazing platform that enabled him to meet top-notch service providers in the city.
“This wedding expo concept is amazing. It also proved that we are taking hospitality to another level. I hope this kind of interface will continue,” Maumbeta said.
One of the wedding service providers, Patricia Chimango Munthali, who bakes wedding cakes, described the expo as an important platform for her to market her business.
“We need such platforms to reach out to clients and market our services to the world out there and, at the same time, show our artistry. Through this platform I was able to show my art of baking wedding cakes,” Munthali said.
