Gospel musician Wendy Harawa has been appointed the brand ambassador for Malawi in the Maranatha Global Worship Music Awards.
Wendy confirmed the development Monday.
In letter signed by Brian Trigga, who is the founder and president of Maranatha Awards, says Wendy has been officially appointed as brand ambassador in Malawi and that she would also serve as director on the Maranatha Awards Southern Africa committee ahead of the regional awards.
“This appointment, by default, limits Minister Wendy Harawa from future participation in Maranatha Awards as a nominee as she officially begins executing her duties as Maranatha Awards director,” reads part of the letter.
The letter further says that as Maranatha Awards Malawi Ambassador, Wendy would serve as Maranatha Awards Chief Executive Officer in Malawi and that she would be liaising with the president in making crucial decisions.
She is also expected to chair Maranatha Awards Malawi organising committee and panel.
Wendy is also set to apply for partnerships and sign engagement contracts on behalf of Maranatha Global World Music Awards President, with willing corporate bodies, ministries or individuals, who have the Maranatha Awards vision at heart.
“I am excited to be appointed brand ambassador. I hope to do more,” she said.
Her appointment also follows her success this year where she won an award in the 2019 Awards under Outstanding Supplication/Petition Song of Excellence with her song ‘Chisomo’, which she collaborated with Lulu and Nigeria’s Jimmy D Psalmist.
Wendy, two months ago, launched her debut album Mundisunge Ndinu in Lilongwe.
Meanwhile, some Malawian artists have received nominations in the Maranatha Awards Southern Africa (Masa) and they include Miracle Chinga in the category of Outstanding Female Minister of Excellence 2019.
Miracle, who was recently in South Africa recording an album was excited to be nominated but could not shed more light.
The poster that has been posted on different platforms indicates that voting will begin in October and ends in December this year.
Some of the artists that are in the category with Miracle include Chileshe Bwalya from Zambia, Janet Manyowa from Zimbabwe, Mmatema from South Africa.
