‘Why always me?’

Zimbabwe-based defender, George Nyirenda, has taken to task Flames technical panel for ignoring him despite the player enjoying a rich vein of form at his club Caps United.
Nyirenda has taken a swipe at coach Young Chimodzi for trying to frustrate his national team career.
The player last week wrote Football Association of Malawi (Fam) demanding an explanation why he was left out from the Flames’ squad that is expected to participate at Cosafa Cup in South Africa.
Although Fam has been mum on the player’s outburst, Nyirenda confirmed having approached Fam seeking an explanation on his continued sidelining.
“When I came here from Malawi, I was a Flames player,” Nyirenda said. “National team coaches told me I should start playing games so that they should consider me”
“I fought till I became a regular player but they didn’t call me. I accepted their decision till I finished the (2014) season as a regular player here.”
The former Big Bullets defender said this season he was also in top form at his club where he is enjoying game time.
“This season, I started on a high note scoring in a derby in which I was playing as a holding midfielder, a position I have been playing ever since the new British coach came here.
“Everybody that watched my games against Dynamos and Highlanders, said I played well, but nothing yet happened. So, I was surprised that they (coaches) didn’t include me in the squad,” he said.
The 2013/14 TNM Super League defender of the season, said time had come for him to be considered for the Flames squad.
“It’s about time they started being included in Flames squad,” he said. “I never thought a time would come that I would be left out.”
Coach Young Chimodzi was not available for a comment as he was travelling from Zambia to Malawi with the national team.
Malawi lost 2-0 to Zambia’s Chipolopolo in a strength testing match on Sunday.
