William Matambo is Reserve Bank of Malawi Deputy Governor

The Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM) has appointed William Matambo as its deputy governor, replacing Grant Kabango, who has concluded his mandatory two terms.
Until his appointment, Matambo, who once served as accountant general, worked as executive director responsible for corporate affairs at the central bank. He has served on the position for over two years.
In a short message confirming the development yesterday, RBM Public Relations Manager Ralph Tseka said the designation is with effect from May 1 2022.
“Before this date, he will be Deputy Governor-Designate,” Tseka said.
Earlier, the National Planning Commission posted on its Facebook page a congratulatory message for Matambo, who serves as member of its board committee on finance, audit and risk and human resources.
According to information on his Linkedin page, Matambo holds a masters degree from Cass Business School and a bachelor of commerce degree from the University of Malawi.
Between September 2010 and September 2015, he served as RBM’s director of strategy and risk before he was appointed as accountant general, a position he held until October 2017.
