Times Group commentator, Williams Gondwa, will be among selected journalists from English-speaking African countries to attend Fifa Development Forum for Journalists at Rosebank in Johannesburg, South Africa, Thursday.
The forum is aimed at helping journalists to speak with one voice and find ways of developing the continent’s football, Football Association of Malawi (Fam) Executive Committee member, Daud Suleiman, said Tuesday.
Suleman said Gondwa’s invitation is a blessing for Malawi as it comes when Fam President, Walter Nyamilandu, was recently elected Fifa Council member.
“I think it is a big opportunity for Malawi to learn and share experiences with Fifa as they are the global regulators of football. Through Caf, Fifa have seen it wise to create a standard through which media practitioners from all Fifa member countries can come together so that football is portrayed in a positive manner,” he said.
Gondwa said he is geared up for the workshop.
“This is a great opportunity for me and my career as I will learn a lot. I will also share what I will learn from such a forum with my colleagues,” he said.
