Wilson Masamba silences Malani Kayuni again
Experience boxer, Wilson Masamba, restored his pride when he defeated Malani Kayuni in an eight-round non-title bout at a jam-packed M1 Centrepoint in Lilongwe on Sunday.
Masamba won the bout on points after the two boxers failed to knock down each other in eight rounds.
The highly-anticipated bout never lived up to its expectation as it was marred by darkness towards the last two rounds.
The boxers never showed hunger for a killer-punch as they exercised caution from the first to the last round.
It was Masamba’s first bout on the local scene since he was knocked out after 47 seconds in Namibia early this year.
The victory was Masamba’s straight win against Kayuni.
Masamba dominated the better part of the bout as he used his tricks of hit –and-duck.
Most of Masamba’s punches were on target, whereas Kayuni was too slow and his punches were off-target.
On the other hand, Kayuni also proved he is a good boxer when he put Masamba under siege in fifth and sixth rounds.
In his victory speech, Masamba was delighted with the victory.
“He gave me a good fight, but I knew I would beat him. I am back to my form and ready to face any boxer,” Masamba said.
Kayuni accepted defeat, but said he was looking for a re-match.
In the main supporting bout, Acras Mchombo beat Robert Kachiza.
Ngwenyama Boxing Promotions organised the bout. The stable’s director, Patrick Ngwenyama, was delighted with the huge turn-out.
