Women theatre group born at Chingalire
Chingalire Rural Growth Centre situated at Nsalu in Lilongwe which is an initiative of musician Ben Mankhamba, who is now Village Headman Chingalire continues to grow and engage in different projects with the latest being the formation of a women’s travelling theatre.
Mankhamba said on Wednesday that a lot of positive projects were happening at Chingalire aimed at empowering the people. He said the women travelling theatre was ready to show its skills and disseminate information through drama and called upon Non- Governmental Organisations and other institutions to utilise the group particularly holding performances in the rural areas.
The group had its first performance last weekend and according to Mankhamba is being drilled on the basics of theatre by Bantu Theatre’s actor Frank Mbewe.
