Women’s League kicks off April 15
National Women’s Football Association (NWFA) Chairperson, Severia Chalira, has said the 2017 regional leagues are expected to kick off on April 15.
“I am sure that by next week the fixtures will be ready so that the teams roll into action by the said date. As usual, champions in the regions will battle out it at the national level to identify our national champions,” she said.
Chalira has since said they are encouraged by the rising of the Malawi Women’s National Football Team on Fifa ranking from position 123 to 111 last week.
“This is a sign that, despite losing to Zambia in our last game, we are doing fine. We are sure that through the league we will identify players for the national team,” she said.
“We have already written to the Football Association of Malawi to secure a friendly match for us. We would be glad if we play Tanzania because they are the champions of East Africa.”
