Female Police officers in Dedza, under the banner of Police Women Network (PWN), have encouraged Primary School girls in the district to strive for success at a tender age, for the betterment of their future.
Addressing standard 5-8 pupils at Chipalukwa Primary School in Senior Chief Kamenyagwaza’ s Area, Dedza Police Officer In-Charge Emmie Soko impressed upon the girls the need to concentrate on their studies since they are future leaders of the country.
Soko also warned the girls to desist from premarital sex as that could end their dreams prematurely through early pregnancies, Sexually Transmitted Diseases like HIV/ AIDS, Syphilis just to mention a few.
“You must refrain from indulging in sexual relationships as you may contract the deadly HIV virus and unwanted pregnancies can deter you from realising your dreams”, Soko said.
The women in uniform also took the opportunity to drill the pupils on how best they can overcome some challenges that include child labour and forced early marriages.
The Dedza Police Women Network then donated notebooks and ball pens to the pupils that were in attendance, who were about 150.
