Football Association of Malawi (Fam) has disclosed that Malawi National Football Team attacker Yamikani Chester and former Flames midfielder Frank Banda will be cleared to join any local club on Saturday.
The association’s club licensing and compliance manager Casper Jangale said the international and domestic transfer window would be open on Saturday, thereby giving the pair and others a chance to seal mid-season deals.
“The transfer window gives local clubs a chance to buy and sell players, thereby according Chester and Banda the chance to complete deals. The window will run for two weeks and this is the right time for clubs to start working on transfers,” he said.
Chester returned home towards the end of last year after parting ways with United States League championship side Las Vegas Lights FC, where he was playing on loan from MFK Vyškov.
The former Mighty Tigers player is expected to rejoin Mighty Be Forward Wanderers while TNM Super League leaders Silver Strikers re-signed Banda, after being released by Mozambican side UD Songo.
Meanwhile, Wanderers General Secretary Fadweck Matemba has said discussions with Chester’s representatives were underway as the club was hoping to finalise the deal on Saturday to include the pace attacker in the squad to face Civil Service United.
“It is our wish to have him in our camp but discussions with the player’s representative are on-going,” he said.
