The forward has reportedly signed a three-year contract with the Czech side but will immediately be loaned out to North Carolina FC in the United States (US).
A well-placed source at Wanderers confirmed that the attacker was sold at K22.5 million.
“Wanderers would get a share if the player is sold to another club within the three years of his contract. According to the agreement between the two clubs, Wanderers will receive part payment, after which the player is likely to travel to the US this month,” said the source who spoke on strict conditions of anonymity.
Wanderers’ General Secretary Mike Butao refused to give details on the transfer.
“Our focus is not on the transfer fee of the player because we believe that we will market Chester in the US and we can get more money if he is sold to another club. We are also opening up opportunities for local players in America so that we export more in the near future.
“Let me also make it clear that it is only Wanderers players who have the opportunity to go to the US through this arrangement. We have connections there and also in Czech Republic for exporting players. We also have another market in Japan and Korea through our sponsors Be Forward,” Butao explained.
But Football Association of Malawi Transfer Matching System manager Casper Jangale yesterday said he has not yet been approached to process the player’s International Clearance.
“They will come to us once they finalise everything,” Jangale said in a brief interview.
The Czech club will be responsible for Chester’s salary, health insurance and housing during his stay in the US.
