HAS FOUND HIS FEET—Chester

Malawi national football team attacker, Yamikani Chester, seems to have completed his adaptation to American football after scoring in his first full match for second tier league side North Carolina FC in a 1-1 draw against Hartford Athletic on Saturday.

Hartford had gone ahead barely 17 seconds into the United States (US) League Championship Eastern Conference match through Harry Swarzt.

But the former Be Forward Wanderers playmaker, who registered his first goal for Carolina last month, responded with the much needed equaliser in the 58th minute to rescue a point.

“In the 58th minute, after a couple of close-range attempts, Chester picked up the loose ball and fired a rocket far post past Due to tie the game,” www.northcarolinefc.com reports.

It was Chester’s first league goal as his first in a 4-1 win over Richmond Kickers, was in a cup game.

Understandably, Chester, who is on a season-long loan from Czech side MFK Vyskov, was delighted to make his full appearance for the American outfit.

“It is so nice to score, but I would much rather have gained three points as compared to the one point we took against Hartford,” he said. Chester’s representative, James Wood-Nkhutabasa,

aid the player had found his feet in the US having now made nine appearances.

Carolina are on sixth position on the 18-member log table with 20 points from 12 games whereas Hartford are bottom with six points from a similar number of games.

Tampay Bay top the table with 29 points from 13 games.
