Yamikani Chester waits for US visa

By Peter Kanjere:

Playmaker Yamikani Chester is processing a visa ahead of his trip to the United States where he has clinched a six-month loan deal with lower division club, North Carolina FC.

Chester’s former team, Be Forward Wanderers General Secretary Mike Butao, confirmed that the player was still in the country.

“All I know is that he travelled to Lilongwe yesterday for his visa but I do not know the actual day of his departure for the United States,” Butao said.

The attacking player signed a three-year contract with Czech Republic lower league side, MFK Vyskov, who, in turn, loaned him out to the American side.

Last week, Carolina Coach,

Dave Sarachan, hailed the signing of the former Tigers skipper.

“When I watched him on tape, his quickness and speed and his ability to run with the ball and beat players stood out. I don’t think you can ever have enough of those players who have that quality in the final third. From what we’ve seen, he has the potential to be an electric player for us,” he is quoted as saying on the club’s website.

The midfielder was not available for a comment. He was spotted while playing for the Flames in 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Another Malawian footballer based in Europe is Tawonga Chimodzi, who plays club football in Cyprus.
