Yasin Osman worried, Esau Kanyenda relieved
Be Forward Wanderers Coach, Yasin Osman, has said their one-point lead at the summit of the TNM Super League table was giving him discomfort.
“There are 15 other teams which are eyeing the title and anything can happen in football. We need to create, at least, a bigger gap for us to be comfortable.
“But as it is, we are not champions yet and chances are high that our counterparts may fight hard and probably overtake us. We need to work on complacency among my players,” Osman said on Sunday after his side beat defending champions, Kamuzu Barracks 1-0 at Balaka Stadium.
On the same day, Silver Strikers beat Premier Bet Wizards 1-0 at Silver Stadium to remain on second place with 37 points from 17 games. Silver have played one more game than the Nomads who have 38 points.
Veteran striker Esau Kanyenda scored for Wanderers, his first in four appearances since leaving Polokwane City of South Africa a few months ago.
In a post-match interview, Kanyenda said he was relieved to score.
“I would like to commend the technical panel for featuring me in the starting line-up. This goal will go a long way in motivating me to score regularly,” he said.
