Young Chimodzi advises John Lanjesi to start playing games
Flames coach Young Chimodzi has advised his inactive defender John Lanjesi that he risks losing his place in the Flames unless he gets a club and starts playing matches in the TNM Super League.
The coach’s advice comes following the player’s inactivity in the league, after he ditched his club Civo United, but is unable to move to Mighty Wanderers due to a dispute over his contract.
Civo refused to release the player on understanding that he signed a pre-contract with the Lilongwe outfit prior to signing a similar contract with Wanderers.
Lanjesi and Wanderers sought Super League of Malawi (Sulom) intervention.
Meanwhile, Sulom has since ordered Lanjesi and his parent club, Civo, to decide the transfer fee to allow the player join Wanderers.
The league’s treasurer Tiya Somba-Banda said they had used part of Bosman ruling to advise Lanjesi and Civo to settle the issue jointly.
“In this case the player is contracted to Civo and besides that, he also signed a pre-contract with Wanderers. Since the player is interested to move to another team, then he should agree with Civo on the amount to be involved,” he said.
Recently, Lanjesi disclosed that he would terminate the contract he signed with the former to allow him join Wanderers this season.
The player still has a running contract with Civo until 2017 despite signing a pre-contract with Nomads.
