National Youth Football Association (NYFA) Annual General Meeting (AGM) slated for this Saturday in Salima might be cancelled due new restrictions government on Covid-19 pandemic.
NYFA General Secretary, Danny Makiyi said consultations were underway in line with new gazetted resolutions.
“It is a tricky situation for everyone but we are consulting relevant stakeholders on the matter. Makiyi said.
Government restricted gatherings to 10 people as a measure to control the spread of Covid-19 pandemic.
If the meeting will go ahead, NYFA Treasurer will present a financial statement whereas the General Secretary will also present his 2019 report. The association is expected to hold elective meeting in December this year.
Some of NYFA members resigned to take up positions in other organisations.
Makiyi was promoted to the position of GS after Thokozani Chimbali resigned to take up securing a job as Silver Strikers Chief Executive Officer.
Chimango Munthali also resigned from the post of chairperson after he was elected as Football Association of Malawi (Fam) executive member in December last year.
Following Chimango’s resignation, Osward Lungu was elevated to the position of chairperson whereas Mcloud Munthali was promoted to the position of vice chairperson.
Meanwhile, Super League of Malawi (Sulom) AGM slated for this month end is also doubtful. With the football season almost lost due to the new resolutions, it is not known if Sulom will go ahead with the meeting as planned.
