A Nayuchi-based Youth Response for Social Change (YRSC) says it is committed to help in improving the lives of Malawians by advocating for availability of family planning services in rural health facilities in Machinga.
Executive Director for YRSC Lamecks Kiyare said this during a media tour which the organisation arranged in the area of Sub Traditional Authority Mchinguza in the district.
He said the family planning project which the organisation is implementing in the area is aimed at ensuring availability of drugs and family planning services at Nayuchi and Namanja health centres.
The two facilities serve population in Nayuchi which is located in Malawi’s border with Mozambique and parts of Ntaja.
“We want all women and girls to access sexual reproductive and health rights services in these health facilities,” Kiyare said.
Sub Traditional Authority Mchinguza hailed YRSC for the project and described it as a life-changer.
“The coming in of this project has greatly changed people’s perception on health issues. Women are now getting family planning methods unlike in the past when their husbands denied them access due to knowledge gap,” said Mchinguza.
YRSC is non-governmental organisation among whose objectives is to promote inclusive resource allocation for family planning and sexual reproductive health especially among young people by way of engaging community structures.
The project is being supported by Tilitonse Fund.
