Zambia’s top-flight league side, Nkhwazi FC, are interested in signing Silver Strikers goalkeeper, Brighton Munthali, and midfielder Levison Maganizo.
Munthali’s heroics earned Silver a goal-less draw against Nkhwazi in a friendly played at David Kaunda Stadium on Sunday.
After the game, Munthali earned praises from Zambian fans.
While Maganizo was an unused substitute in all games played in Chipata over the weekend, the Zambian club spotted him during the Cosafa Youth Championship in Kitwe last year.
After the game, Nkhwazi officials, including Head Coach Albert Mphande, discussed with Silver officials the possibility of signing the two players.
Mphande praised the former Premier Bet Wizards goalkeeper, who is the Flames’ third-choice goalkeeper.
“He is a very good goalkeeper who can play for any team,” Mphande said.
Nkhwazi finished on position 12 with 38 points last season in the Zambian top-flight league.
Nkhwazi are expected to write Silver this week, expressing interest in the services of the two players.
Silver General Secretary, Thabo Nyirenda, confirmed that the Zambian side is interested in the two players.
“We have asked them to formalise their request so that we can see the way forward. But it seems they really want the two players,” Nyirenda said.
Munthali was in good form last season, and he was voted Airtel Top 8 Cup Player of the Tournament after conceding a single goal in open play.
If he joins the Zambian club, Silver will remain with goalkeepers Blessings Kameza and Steve Micheta.
In Zambia, Silver defeated second-tier side, Chipata City Council, 1-0 on Saturday at David Kaunda Stadium before playing out to a goal-less draw against Nkhwazi at the same venue.
New signing Shelton Madimba Banda scored for Silver on Saturday.
