The country’s South Africa-based singer Zani Challe, who was voted Best Female Artist during the 2018 Nyasa Music Awards , will in July perform at the African Music Industry (Ami) Afrika People’s Viewers Choice Awards to be held in Kinshasa, the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The event was initially slated for Kampala, Uganda, in March but was postponed.

Apart from performing at the awards and flying the country’s flag, Zani is among the top five nominees in the category of Best Female Newcomer with her song ‘Chikondi Chako’.

The singer, who has just released a new song ‘Chule’, which features Zimbabwe’s star Buffalo Souljah, Tuesday, said she was happy to be among top five nominees.

“This event was postponed but I have just seen through their platform that it is on in Kinshasa. So I will perform in July.

“Voting for the awards closed but I would like to thank people for giving me support when I called for their votes. To make it among the top five nominees is not that easy and I am praying for a win,” she said.

She will perform at the awards on July 28.

“The support people have given me has motivated me to do more,” Zani said.

The singer— who made headlines after releasing ‘Single Tonight’ featuring Nigerian reggae-dancehall artist Patoranking— said early this month that she would collaborate with more artists in the country.

She also said that her sound is leaning towards dancehall.

“I feel like, in dancehall, I have found a path for myself but, again, I love afro beat and I still got R&B influence in my sound of singing but dancehall has been my need,” Zani said.

Recently, Zani also got a nomination in the African Muzik Magazine Awards.

Coincidentally, she was also nominated in the category of Bes t Newcomer.

However, she missed out on the award.

The singer in 2016 also received a nomination in the Africa Music Awards but, again, missed out.
