Zimbabwe’s Shower Power ready to shower God’s message

Zimbabwe’s oldest accapella act Shower Power seems to have fallen in love with Malawi, the Warm Heart of Africa, as they are set to perform in the country once again this Sunday.
The Seventh Day Adventist Church gospel group, which is not new in the country having also performed in Blantyre last year, is back and this time invades Sheaffer Marquee in Lilongwe.
The seasoned accapella group has since promised the best during the concert which will also see them sharing the stage with local acts which include Joseph Chadeleka.
In a press statement, the group, which has toured several countries with their music, said the concert gives them the chance to once again shower their gospel vibes to Malawians as well as give a chance to those who missed their last year’s performance.
Other local acts billed to perform at the concert include Card Messages Quartet, Mixed Voices, Chifundo Chikonga and Beulah Land.
A member of the organising team Kenneth Kondiwa called on people to come in large numbers for the concert and enjoy an afternoon of power packed gospel music.
“This is a versatile group which has a large following and wherever they have performed they have always conquered. This is a must miss concert and it also gives a chance to those who missed the previous performance to enjoy their music,” said Kondiwa.
He added:
“We are certain that the concert will bring listening pleasure and spiritual upliftment,” said one of the organisers Kenneth Kondiwa.
According to the group which has once performed with renowned gospel heavy weights in Donnie Mclurkin and Andre Crouch, they will for the first time in the country bring a female member whose name is Karabo Desouza.
Apart from Malawi, the group has performed in several other countries and they include USA, Uganda, Botswana, South Africa, Kenya, Namibia and Rwanda.
Shower Power’s latest album The Journey received the 2012 United States Contemporary Accapella Society (Cara) accolade for Best African Accapella Album, in respect to its unique combination of blueprint, purpose and sound engineering.
In its 23 years of existence, the group which was founded in September 1992 has recorded several albums and they include God in His Mercy, Spirit of God, Today and Holy Life and Hymns.
The other members of the group are Mwandikudza Sithole, Jeremiah Janda, Tonovimba Ndiraya, Ngonidzashe Gumbo, Innocent Kudyautambe, Promise Matope, Professor Mkohliswa, Owen Marowa and Lawrence Jembere.
As an Adventist group, Kondiwa said Shower Power will also perform in some of the churches in Lilongwe ahead of the main concert on Sunday.
