Zomba-based arts café, Effort Art and Craft Centre will this coming weekend hold a two-day cultural festival.
The festival to be held at Zomba Community Centre ground is aimed at uplifting the art of painting in the country.
One of the organisers of the event, Arthur Matembera, who is also Effort Art and Craft Centre Managing Director, Arthur Matembera, said though the festival wants to give artists a platform to showcase their works.
Despite going ahead with the festival, Matembera bemoaned lack of support saying they sent out proposals but they received no response.
“We sent proposals to various companies but we got no response. But we have decided to go ahead with the small package we have,” he said.
“We would like to call upon Malawians who love art to come and patronise the event as we want to promote culture and tourism. This is also a learning opportunity for the up and coming artists.”
He said that the festival will be graced by Zomba City Mayor, Melia Likoswe Douglas.
Matembera said there will also be several other activities during the festivals including traditional dances.
