The battle for top spot in the TNM Super League has reached an exciting stage in the final week of the first round.
Four teams namely leaders Silver Strikers, second-placed Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, third-placed FCB Nyasa Bullets and fourth-placed Chitipa United have a chance to finish at the top of the 16-member log table at the end of the first round.
The four teams are only separated by two points. Silver lead the 16-member log table with 28 points from 13 matches, above Wanderers on goal-difference.
Bullets are third with 26 points from 13 matches at par with fourth-placed Chitipa.
This afternoon, Wanderers have a chance to reclaim top spot when they face Kamuzu Barracks at Kasungu Stadium. Wanderers have been enjoying a rich vein of form having won three consecutive matches.

However, Nomads coach Mark Harrison said he was not carried away with the result.
“We are still a work in progress but have shown a lot of intensity in recent matches. We know it will be a physical game against KB just like Mafco but we are ready for the battle,” Harrison said.
KB soldiers have been inconsistent this season and their coach Alick Chirwa will be hoping that his boys will put behind their FDH Bank Cup nightmare.
They were knocked out by second-tier side Santhe FC 5-3 on post-match penalties on Wednesday.

At Kamuzu Stadium, Bullets also have a chance to return to the summit of the log table if they beat Karonga United.
However, this will depend on the outcome of the match between Wanderers and KB.
Bullets will wrap up the first round against unpredictable Mighty Tigers at Kamuzu Stadium on Wednesday.
Chitipa will host Moyale Barracks at Karonga Stadium this afternoon.
Silver will be in action against Civil Service United at Bingu National Stadium Sunday.
A win for Silver means they will return to the summit.
In the final week of the first round, the focus will also be on the battle against relegation.
Tigers will move out of the relegation zone if they beat Eagles at Mpira Stadium today whereas Extreme will face Red Lions.
