All eyes were on Mighty Mukuru Wanderers Coach Nsanzurwimo Ramadhan following his return to the Lali Lubani Road side but it was Creck Sporting Club who stole the show with a 3-1 victory over seasoned Mighty Tigers.
Ramadhan, who has been hired to make Wanderers Mighty again, was left frustrated when his charges blew a 1-0 lead to draw 1-1 with Kamuzu Barracks in a TNM Super League match at Kamuzu Stadium.
Typical of last season, Wanderers created a host of chances but did not turn them into goals, handing the Yellow Submarines a comeback chance.
Christopher Kumwembe gave Wanderers the lead in the 29th minute during a match which was marred by heavy rains in the opening stages.
Ramadhan stuck to last season’s team by only naming left-back Timothy Swilimba in the starting line-up.

Despite creating several chances, Wanderers could not find the net again as Hastings Banda made a series of saves to keep his team in the game.
However, KB responded in the 72nd minute of the second half through Zeliati Nkhoma.
Ramadhan bemoaned missed chances.
“We created a lot of chances and Madam Luck was not on our side. KB is a difficult team to play with. You can see the long balls. They took us out of the game because we wanted to play their style and we lost it,” Ramadhan said.

On his part, KB Coach Charles Kamanga applauded his charges for earning a point away.
“We could have won but we did not utilise our chances. Otherwise, earning a point in an away match is satisfactory,” Kamanga said.
In another match, debutants Creck started their campaign brightly with a deserved victory over Tigers.
Hadji Wali, Dalitso Nahipa and Babanginda scored for the free-spending debutants while Masembero Kalua scored Tigers’ consolation goal.
Creck Coach MacDonald Mtetemera said it was a dream start.
“We had to start with a win to make our statement known,” he said.
Creck have dislodged Silver Strikers at the top as they lead on goal difference, having tied at three points each.
Another debutant Fomo is third on the log table with three points, having defeated Bangwe All Stars 1-0 on Saturday.
Wanderers are on position 10 while defending champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets are eighth. Both have a point.
In other matches played Sunday, Mzuzu City Hammers, formerly Ekwendeni Hammers, beat Civil Service United 1-0 while newcomers Baka City lost 0-1 to Karonga United in a Karonga derby.
