Bishop Charles Kapenga of Believers Assembly, father to musician Waxy Kay, was laid to rest at HHI Cemetery in Blantyre on Tuesday.
People from all walks of life attended the burial ceremony for Bishop Kapenga, who inspired many through his ministry.
Waxy Kay described his father as a wonderful man who loved them and that he will be greatly missed.
“As the first-born child, I feel a sense of responsibility to carry on his legacy. My mother, sister, brother and I are all grieving, but we will support each other through this difficult time,” he said.

Waxy Kay said his father’s passing has challenged him to assume a new role and be a leader.
“This is a new beginning for me and I will strive to make my father proud and continue his legacy,” he said.
Last week, while his father was admitted to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital, Waxy Kay released a song titled ‘Ndikupempha’, dedicated to him.
The youthful artist said the track was a prayer for his father and others facing illness.

Prophet David Mbewe and Prophet Themba Jere were among those in attendance.
Gospel musician Vin Chizuzu, who worked with Bishop Kapenga at his Chord Online Television, where he used to minister, said he was heartbroken by his death.
“This hurts, but God is faithful until our next glorious meeting. Bishop Kapenga will always be my dreamer, friend and the one with whom we walked in a vision that became a reality,” Chizuzu said.
Bishop Kapenga is survived by a wife and two children.
