BAT Ground has been allocated K2 billion in the 2025-26 proposed national budget, Times Sport has learned.
The funds have been allocated through the Malawi National Council of Sports (MNCS).
This is against the background that MNCS will need K30 billion for reconstruction of the facility.
MNCS demolished the old structure, paving the way for the construction of a new 17,000-seater stadium.

However, MNCS Chief Executive Officer Henry Kamata was reluctant to comment on the matter.
“The budget process is underway. Let us wait for Parliament to pass the national budget,” Kamata said.
Out of the K13.5 billion allocated to MNCS, K11.5 billion is for Other Recurrent Transactions (ORT).
The Malawi National Football Team and Malawi National Netball Team have been allocated K1.1 billion and K500 million, respectively.
Other sports associations have been allocated K500 million.
The sports implementing agency announced last year that the stadium would have shops and other facilities.
For many years, the facility has been getting allocations.
The stadium, which previously belonged to cigarette manufacturing company British American Tobacco, was donated to the Ministry of Youth and Sports some time back.
But the ministry handed the facility over to MNCS.
Once completed, the new stadium in Blantyre would ease the problem of shortage of facilities for Super League teams.
Blantyre-based Super League teams—namely FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, Mighty Wanderers, Mighty Tigers and Ekhaya FC— use Kamuzu Stadium as their home ground.
Construction of Bullets and Wanderers stadia stalled four years ago due to lack of funds.
In the proposed budget, K1.9 billion has been allocated for the continuation of the projects.
