By Bishop Witmos:
President Lazarus Chakwera has urged Malawians to continue placing their faith in God and to seek His guidance and wisdom in all aspects of life.
Speaking during a Sunday worship service at Monkey Bay Assemblies of God in Mangochi Sunday, Chakwera said it is important to prioritise spiritual values and focus on issues that benefit the nation as Malawi approaches its general elections in September this year.
He encouraged Malawians to look beyond personal interests and begin working towards improving the welfare of others, promoting unity and collective progress.
“Whenever the First Lady and I go out to pray, we appreciate the prayers and best wishes that citizens offer us. As such, I want to encourage Malawians to put God first in all aspects of our lives, because it is through this that we can cultivate a sense of purpose and morality.

“As the nation prepares for elections, let us focus on issues that benefit the greater good and promote peace and unity,” Chakwera said.
Later, the President and First Lady Monica Chakwera presented gifts to the church.
In his remarks, resident pastor of Monkey Bay Assemblies of God, Reverend Alexander Chirwa, commended Chakwera and the First Lady for attending the worship service.
He said the President’s presence at the service demonstrated his dedication to his faith and his willingness to worship alongside congregants.

“As church leaders and members of the congregation, we express our deep appreciation for the President’s humility and respect for the Church. This reflects his commitment to spiritual values and meaningful community engagement. As Monkey Bay Assemblies of God, we are truly humbled,” Chirwa said.
He added that the church would continue to pray for the President and First Lady’s good health.
In his sermon, Chirwa spoke about the journey of life, encouraging congregants to remain focused despite spiritual challenges and emphasising that God has a purpose for every individual.
He further encouraged congregants to associate with righteous people to achieve success in life and attain salvation.
Monkey Bay Assemblies of God, established in 1990, has over 500 registered members with Reverend Chirwa serving as the 12th resident pastor since its founding.—Mana
