The Council of Southern African Football (Cosafa) will honour players, coaches and various stakeholder at inaugural annual awards at Sandton Convention Centre in South Africa this evening.
Four Malawian female players have been nominated for the inaugural awards for 2023. Malawi Women’s National Football Team and Paris Saint Germain striker Tabitha Chawinga has been nominated for the Player of the Year award following her impressive performance while on loan at Inter Milan Women where she scored 23 goals in 21 matches.
However, Tabitha did not travel to South Africa due to club commitments.
’’We have crucial games as we are fighting for the championship. We are playing the league semi-final play –off against Paris this weekend,’’ Tabitha said, who won the French Women’s League player of the season award last week.

For her to win the award, she has to do away with strong competition from Zambian duo Barbara Banda and Rachel Kundananji who had a good year for both country and club in 2023.
