Malawi National Football Team captain Tabitha Chawinga has been named in the 2023/2024 Uefa Women’s Champions League team of the season after impressive performances with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
Uefa announced names of the best eleven players of the season yesterday, three days after the final of the competition which saw Spanish giants Barcelona retaining the title following a 2-0 victory over Olympique Lyonnais.
The team, selected by Uefa’s Technical Observer Panel, comprises five Barcelona players, four Olympique Lyonnais players, one player from Chelsea with Tabitha being the only PSG star.
The Malawian has been named in a fearsome frontline comprising Lyonnais striker Kadidiatou Diani and Barcelona forward Graham Hansen.
Tabitha had a debut season to remember in the Uefa Women’s Champions League, scoring five goals for PSG as they reached the semi-finals.
