The curtain on the 2024 TNM Super League comes down but the focus is on the survival battle which involves three teams Fomo, Bangwe All Stars and Chitipa United Saturday afternoon.
With TNM Super League championship done and dusted, drama is expected as the three teams will know their fate, battling for the last slot to remain in the league.
Fomo, who boosted their survival chances with a 1-0 victory over champions-designate Silver Strikers on Wednesday, will host Karonga United at Mulanje Park whereas Bangwe will face Creck Sporting Club at Balaka Stadium.
Chitipa have what looks like an easy fixture against relegated Baka City at Karonga Stadium.
The three teams go into the final day of the TNM Super League separated by one point.
Fomo are one point above relegation, with 28 points, one above Bangwe on 14 and two points above Chitipa.
The Mulanje-based side will escape relegation with a victory over Karonga this afternoon which will render Bangwe and Chitipa matches results academic.
Fomo Coach Elvis Kafoteka believes fate is in their hands.
“This is crucial and a must win match for us. The players know what is at stake so they are determined to do the job,” Kafoteka said.
On the part of Bangwe, they will hope that Fomo should slip up against Karonga to keep their status in the TNM Super League.
Bangwe Coach Trevor Kajawa urged his boys to double their efforts against Creck on Saturday afternoon.
“We will play to win the match. We know that we need maximum points to stay in the league,” Kajawa said.
Straight from their 2-0 victory over Moyale Barracks, Chitipa Coach Christopher Nyambose will hope to get another positive result.
“We expect a tough match but we are confident of getting a victory,” Nyambose said.
Meanwhile, Silver will be officially crowned champions for the first time in 11 years in front of their home crowd this afternoon.
The setting is Silver Stadium as they host Premier Bet Dedza Dynamos. Surely, this is Silver finest hour having waited for so long to reach the Promised Land.
There is nothing to stop them from celebrating having sealed the title with two matches to spare. Elsewhere, second-placed Wanderers will face Moyale Barracks at Mzuzu Stadium whereas Bullets will host Kamuzu Barracks at Kamuzu Stadium.
Wanderers have already secured runners-up spot and they will get a cool K40 million whereas Bullets will get K30 million for the third slot.
