Capital City giants Civil Service United are stuck in the TNM Super League relegation zone after they lost to fierce rivals Silver Strikers 1-0 at Civo Stadium on Saturday.
Patrick Macheso scored Silver’s crucial goal to spoil Civil’s return to the venue, which was reopened after being certified fit to host elite matches following its ban due to poor sanitation in July.
Following the loss, Civil remain on position 14 on the 14-member log table with 25 points from 23 games whereas Silver are fourth with 39 points from 22 games.
Civil Assistant Coach Wilson Chidati said the team will not get relegated.
“It was not our day but we are determined to turn things around,” he said
However, it was a good outing for Silver as they registered their first win against Civil at Civo in three seasons.
Silver Assistant Coach Peter Mgangira congratulated the players for following the game-plan to win.
In another league match on the same day, Chitipa United beat Red Lions through a Ramadhan Ntafu late penalty.
