Lilongwe Senior Resident Magistrate Roderick Michongwe has set aside May 28 2024 as the date he will give his ruling on whether former president Peter Mutharika’s bodyguard Norman Chisale has a case to answer in a matter where he is being accused of intimidating some public officers.
On Friday, the State concluded parading its witnesses.
Meanwhile, lawyer representing Chisale Stanley Chirwa has said they were satisfied with the speed of the trial.
“It is our wish that all criminal trials were done quickly, like this one,” Chirwa said
Earlier on, the last State witness in the matter, police investigator Loudon Nthinda, told the court that Minister of Justice Titus Mvalo complained to the police that Chisale had intimidated him, among other public servants, on television.

In cross-examination, defence lawyers quizzed the investigator about the language that Chisale allegedly used on the officers.
The investigator mentioned a word which he said insulted the minister.
He added that apart from Mvalo, other public servants reported to police headquarters that they had been insulted or intimidated by Chisale.
He said among the people who reported the matter to police was Anti- Corruption Bureau Deputy Director General Hillary Chilomba, who reportedly indicated that Chisale went to his office where he allegedly intimidated him.

Former director of Public Prosecutions Steve Kayuni also testified that what Chisale said in an exclusive interview on television was a threat to his life and that of his family.
“He attacked me in a television interview, saying that he would never forgive me and that he was not an ordinary person,” Kayuni said.
Chisale was arrested in November last year for “intimidation and obstruction of justice”. He is currently on court bail
