Ecobank Malawi on Tuesday donated K5.1 million to Blantyre Police Station for CCTV installation project.
The station recently announced plans to install CCTV cameras around crime-prone areas in the Central Business District as a way of improving security.
Ecobank Malawi Chief Financial Officer Fabiano Makolija said the commercial town and the banking business require maximum security, hence the support.
“For us to conduct our business well, we need a safe and secure environment and that is why we have partnered the police in this project because it will help in enhancing security in this area,” Makolija said.

South West Region Police Commissioner Richard Luhanga said robbers are becoming more sophisticated and that security institutions should up their game in fighting crime.
“It is for this reason that we have embarked on this project which will require about K18 million. We thank Ecobank for the assistance,” Luhanga said.
