The Football Association of Malawi (Fam) has stepped up preparations for Castel Challenge Cup semi-finals at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre this weekend.
The Castel Cup will reach the climax stage on Saturday and Sunday as semi-finalists FCB Nyasa Big Bullets, Goshen City Dedza Dynamos, Blue Eagles and Mzuzu City Hammers will battle for spots in the final.
Fam Competitions and Communications Director Gomezgani Zakazaka described this year’s tournament as competitive.
“As we are gearing up for the semi-finals, we engaged the referees’ body to ensure that professional and competent match officials are appointed to handle the high-stakes encounters,” Zakazaka said.
He said, in line with tradition, all the semi-finalists would receive jerseys that would be also used during the final for the teams that will proceed.

Meanwhile, Fam has announced that the 2025 Castel Challenge Cup final will be staged at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe on Sunday, February 15.
“Basically, Fam decides the venues when the cup has reached this stage. We staged all the semi-finals and the final at Bingu National Stadium for the last edition and, this season, we thought it wise to fix the semi-finals in Blantyre at Kamuzu Stadium. So, I would like to confirm that the final will be played in Lilongwe next Sunday,” he said.
Dedza will face Eagles in the first semi-final this coming Saturday before Bullets and Hammers lock horns in another semi-final match this coming Sunday.
Both Dedza and Eagles will be looking for their first-ever final appearance in the Castel Cup whereas Bullets and Hammers have each reached the final once; that is, in 2023 and 2024, respectively.
