Humbled FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have turned their attention to the TNM Super League following the team’s exit from the Caf Champions League.
Bullets will this afternoon face Bangwe All Stars in a league match at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
The People’s Team exited the continental championship after suffering a 4-0 humiliating defeat to TP Mazembe in the second leg of the second preliminary round in Lubumbashi on Saturday.
Bullets bowed out on 5-0 aggregate having lost the first leg 1-0.
The defending champions, who also have an eye on the FDH Bank Cup final against Mafco, know that it will not be an easy tie against Bangwe.
This will be the second meeting between Bullets and Bangwe in the league as Bullets won the first round match 1-0 at Mpira Stadium on May 12, thanks to Lanjesi Nkhoma’s first half brace.
Bullets Head Coach Kalisto Pasuwa said his charges were recovering from the 4-0 defeat to Mazembe and were looking forward to facing Bangwe.
“Our focus now is on the league match. We have a congested fixture, which is not an easy task. Bangwe have improved a lot and we expect a tough match,” Pasuwa said.
A win against Bangwe will help Bullets displace second-placed Chitipa United, who have 42 points from 23 matches, whereas third-placed Bullets have 40 points from 19 matches.
Bangwe Coach Abel Mkandawire is upbeat that his charges can stun Bullets to move to position six from seven in the league.
“I know they will come hard on us following their embarrassing defeat in Caf. We lost to them in the first round and we do not want a repeat of the same. It will be a good game facing Bullets,” Mkandawire said.
In other matches this afternoon, Karonga United will entertain Red Lions at Karonga Stadium whereas Moyale will take on Civil Service United at Rumphi Stadium, with Mafco playing Ekwendeni Hammers at Chitowe Stadium.
