TNM Super League champions FCB Nyasa Big Bullets have been invited to take part in the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (Cecafa) Interclub Cup to run from July 6 to 22 in Tanzania and Zanzibar.
Five-time Caf Champions League winners TP Mazembe from the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia Super League champions Red Arrows have also been invited.
“This competition will help teams in the zone prepare better in the pre-season ahead of the 2024-25 Caf Champions League and Caf Confederation Cup, which start in August.
“Having top sides from DR Congo, Malawi and Zambia will also spice up our club competition and give our teams a real test,” the statement, which has been signed by Cecafa Executive Director John Auka Gecheo, reads.
The statement further indicates that all teams have confirmed their participation and will join other 13 teams from the Cecafa zone.
However, Bullets Chief Administration Officer Alfred Chigoga said they would make a decision once they receive official communication.
“Once we are formally invited, we will discuss the way forward,” Chigoga said.
Bullets were invited as guest team to the 2021 edition of the competition and went all the way up to the final, where they lost 1-0 to Uganda’s Express FC in Dar es Salaam.
Last season Bullets won a domestic quadruple.
