South Africa-based Malawian pugilist Isaac Chilemba has disclosed plans to compete in at least two more fights to leave the ring graciously.
Chilemba cut short his retirement plans before suffering a second-round knockout defeat of the scheduled eight-round non-title cruiserweight contest to Russian boxer Alexei Papin in Moscow last month.
Chilemba said he had already started conditioning training to get back in shape and avoid a repeat of last month’s bout.

“I suffered an embarrassing defeat and I did not like the manner I prepared for the fight. Now I am back in the ring, doing body conditioning. I want one or two bouts to leave the stage colourfully. I will be updating my followers and the boxing fraternity on my next step soon,” Chilemba said.
Following the loss, Chilemba’s record is at 27 wins, 10 losses and three draws.

Recently, Malawi Professional Boxing Control Board President Lonzoe Defector Zimba advised Chilemba to make up his mind to avoid losing in such a manner.
“In boxing, you expect three things: a win, lose or draw but a defeat should not be coming in that manner.
“If he is not retiring, then he should be training intensively; otherwise, he will get hurt seriously,” Zimba said.
