The Football Legends Association (FLA) and Football Players Association (FPA) have described their inclusion in Football Association of Malawi (Fam) meetings as a “huge milestone”.
This follows their attendance at Fam’s virtual Extraordinary General Meeting as observers on Tuesday. During the meeting, Fam allocated K10 million each to the FPA and FLA to support their administrative and operational activities in the coming year.
FPA General Secretary Ernest Mangani thanked Fam president Fleetwood Haiya for involving players in football administration, describing the move as a significant step forward.
“This will motivate football players. It shows that football is transforming and this is a milestone in the history of football. We are happy that Fam recognises players as an important stakeholder in the football industry,” Mangani said on the Fam website.
He also welcomed the K10 million allocation, saying it would enhance administrative capacity and support awareness campaigns to help players better understand their association’s role and importance. FLA General Secretary Solomon Gomezgani Mchawi also expressed gratitude to Haiya for the financial support and partnership.
