Lilongwe District Health Office has said it has registered four confirmed cases of cholera and three unconfirmed cases of the disease since January 1 this year.
Lilongwe District Health Office Health Promotion Officer Richard Mvula said the four confirmed cases were already discharged.
“We have had four confirmed cases since the start of the year and, so far, they have been treated and are in their homes,” Mvula said.
Early this month, Health Minister Khumbize Kandodo Chiponda revealed that since November 2023, the country had recorded 47 cholera cases with two deaths from nine districts of the country.

The disease was declared a health emergency in December 2022.
It later killed more than 1,700 people before the Presidential Taskforce on Covid and Cholera declared that it was no longer a public health emergency in August 2023.
