It was a weekend of triumph and celebration at Blantyre Sports Club as Falcon Fairways from Lilongwe Golf Club emerged champions of the 2025 EthCo Interclub Ladies Golf Tournament.
The two-day event, which attracted 74 female golfers, the largest field in the tournament’s history, also saw Stella Chikhula Ng’oma being crowned Champion of the Year.
Falcon Fairways, composed of Esther Kawale, Maina Mkandawire and Maureen Gwembere, displayed remarkable teamwork and composure under pressure, finishing with a combined total of 131 points to claim the top spot.
Kawale described the competition as one of the toughest, yet most thrilling, editions of the event.

“On the first day, we were trailing behind with nine stable points, which was a lot, and we were kind of giving up. But we just had to come back stronger and keep on fighting,” she said.
Their victory was hard fought, as Kasasa Golf Club Team 2 finished just one point behind on 130 points, while Blantyre Sports Club Team 1 settled for third position.
Speaking after the prize presentation ceremony, Blantyre Sports Club Lady Golf Captain Diana Kambale said the competition brings together players from different clubs across Malawi to compete for the prestigious floating Crocodile Trophy.
“There are two competitions in one and, at the end of the day, we wanted to find out who the champion club and the individual champion were,” she said.
