A Malawi delegation that recently attended an international peace summit in Seoul, Korea, has pledged to actively help in fostering peace, especially whenever conflicts arise in society.
Hosted by Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), the summit was held from September 18 to 20.
The Malawi entourage included Archbishop Thomas Msusa of the Blantyre Archdiocese of the Roman Catholic Church as well as the Deputy Minister of Education, Nancy Chaola Mdooko, who made a commitment to introduce Peace Education initiatives, highlighting Malawi’s commitment to fostering peace through education.
Politician and business magnate Mark Katsonga Phiri and former vice president Khumbo Kachali also expressed their willingness to implement peace activities that are relevant to Malawi’s unique context.
Country Director of New Restoration Plan, George Chaima, also made the trip.
The HWPL World Peace Summit brought together over 800 global leaders from 121 countries, representing diverse sectors such as politics, education, youth, women, media, and religion.
HWPL, a South Korea-based international peace NGO affiliated with the UN Economic and Social Council and the UN Department of Global Communications, has been pivotal in advocating for world peace and cessation of war since its foundation in 2013.
