Four Malawian players have made a good impact at Mozambican giants Costa do Sol as they inspired the team to a fourth-place finish in the 2022- 23 Mocambola League.
Costa is home to Malawi National Football Team stars Richard Mbulu, Yamikani Chester, Lloyd Njaliwa and Chikoti Chirwa.
When fully fit, the Malawian quartet was ever-present in Costa’s starting line-up.
Mbulu scored seven league goals for the club, five behind the league’s top goal scorer.
Chester also had a good debut season with the Maputo-based club, having netted four times in the league.

“I played all the league games for the team. It was a wonderful experience for me and we nearly won the league title,” the former Mighty Mukuru Wanderers attacking midfielder said.
Chester moved to Costa on a two-year contract after leaving Wanderers at the end of his contract.
Mbulu, Njaliwa and Chirwa signed one year deals each.
Costa finished on position four with 36 points from 22 matches, three points behind eventual champions Ferroviario de Beira.

Another Malawian plying his trade in the neighbouring country, John Banda, finished the season on position five with his team UD Songo after collecting 35 points.
The deposed champions have a chance to win the last silverware when they face Vilankulo FC in the semifinals of the Taca Cup after the international break.
Banda was an integral member of the title-winning Songo side, inspiring it to the championship with his five goals.
He also scored twice in the Taca Super Cup and thrice in the Taca Cup.
