Miss Malawi pageant organisers have pegged the budget for this year’s edition at K550 million.
Miss Malawi Chief Operations Officer Godfrey Kambewa said the budget would cater for mentorship, branding, international promotion, contestant welfare, scouting, bootcamps and the grand finale.
He said the pageant was being structured not only as an event but also as a business and advocacy platform, with the queen expected to engage in campaigns and policy discussions beyond charity work.
The pageant which has already secured K175 million from Goshen City Trust, led by Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, has since appealed for additional sponsorship to meet the full budget.

“This support has guaranteed the prize package, which includes K30 million and a car for the winner, alongside other titleholder benefits,” Kambewa said.
The board headed by Prophetess Mary Bushiri at its recent meeting approved the budget and operations plan.
“This year’s masterclasses will be more advanced, with two international trainers and leading Malawian women in business, finance and technology mentoring contestants,” Kambewa said.
He said mentorship is aimed at preparing contestants for international representation.

“Miss Malawi will continue to empower young women and promote Malawi’s image internationally,” Kambewa said.
Meanwhile, organisers have urged girls in the country to submit their applications to participate in the pageant.
Applications are expected to close in two weeks.
The current Miss Malawi is Thandie Chisi.
